Landforms and How People Change Them

Landforms have been changing because of people throughout time. Citizens have been changing the way landforms look and the ways land forms act. At times this can be good and sometimes bad. The question is can changing mountains be good and blocking the sea to give us land to live on be bad?

The question I pose is one of the hardest questions any person can ask because who are we to say what is good and bad for the world. This question posed is philosophically dreading. We sometimes change the landforms to protect us as people. Examine the Greek society; the Greeks changed mountains and beaches to protect their people. Farmers are changing land to feed people. Many people have benefited from changing landforms. Changing the land is great for a society if it benefits the people.Think about it through this point of view. Landforms people have changed have destroyed some of the world we live in. Examine the dikes designed to help protect the citizens of New Orleans. These were constructed to protect the people from hurricanes and flooding waters just so they can live right next to the ocean. Changing land for our own good had caused the deaths of people and has destroyed many areas of natural land. Who is to say we should be changing our land so we can live on old swamp?Hearts have been destroyed because of the way a society has changed the land. Observe the Black Hills. We changed many landforms to make monuments. It gave some of the people of United States a feeling of national pride seeing some of their great presidents on a mountain. Before this was done, the mountain land was sacred by many people who lived in the area. This was wrenching to them and caused much angst because people not from their land changed the landforms. In many ways, we as people, changed our landforms possibly for the worse, is where we build our homes. We build our homes on what use to be swamps. We also change the flows of rivers so we can build our home where we want it. Fish are keeling over because of the way humans have been building their homes. There have been negative effects on landforms and Mother Nature because of changing the landform.Changing landforms can either be good or bad. Harm is shown when scientists have looked at the evidence of people changing landforms that reflects harm to both humans and nature. Humans should be thinking about the way we’re changing the shape of our Earth. If we live in this world we should do something good for it. We should think twice before changing our land.
